In November of 2006, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, (CMS) deemed HQAA an
accreditation authority to validate that all HME’s accredited through HQAA meet
the intent of the Quality Standards set forth by CMS. This can be validated on the

CMS is the largest health care insurance provider in the United States. Many other
private insurers have also specifically recognized HQAA as an accrediting organization
